Mushroom Rice

IMG_0201[1]

One of my Thanksgiving side dishes is Mushroom Rice, and to optimize the flavours I cook it in my rice cooker. Nice side effect: you do not have to do anything, but put all ingredients into the rice cooker and wait until ready or focus on the Turkey or other dishes in the meantime.

My Recipe:

  • Diced Mushrooms (I used classic brown champignons and Kräutersaitling)
  • 2 Cups Rice (best: white and wild rice mixed)
  • Thyme
  • Oregano
  • Basil
  • Tarragon
  • 1 Cup Meat juice/broth
  • 1 Cup White Wine
  • 1 Cup Water
  • 1-2 Tbsp Butter
  • Salt and Pepper

Put the rice into the rice cooker, add the mushrooms and herbs, pour in broth, wine and water and let everything cook. When ready stir in butter, season with salt and pepper. It is so easy, but tastes delicious, especially when mixed with the Gravy.
