Last Saturday I went strawberry picking. There are a lot of strawberry fields around Munich and as I remembered how much fun it was when I was a child back in my home town…I decided to give it a try this year in Munich (another “First”!). While picking up the sweet red berries, you can eat as much as you want – and if you don’t have the time to do the picking yourself, you can purchase the strawberries at the vendor huts.
I love to eat strawberries as simple as with sugar and cream or in a fruit salad with blueberries and mangoes. And if I find some time I will bake a cake or do jam. This time my mom made a cake out of the fresh strawberries I picked and it tasted delicious:
Dough: German sponge cake – made out of eggs, flour, sugar, bourbon vanilla sugar, vanilla blancmange powder and cooking oil.
Where? I choose a place which is still in Munich: The strawberry field at Siemensallee.
